Obviously it depends on a couple of aspects such as the age of your child and their general personality. Photographing newborns is possibly simpler than taking photos of a toddler or older child. An infant can't move about on his own so will have no option than remain where you place him for the photo. This gives the photographer ample time to get the photograph just right.

If you want photographs taken of a toddler or young child, you must coordinate with the photographer to set up a play area for your young one. Dress your little one in light colored clothing as it will appear better in the photos. Let him get used to his new surroundings by having a play with some toys before you ask the photographer to start taking snaps. It does help if your child is in the frame of mind to co-operate. If you persist in trying to persuade him when he definitely isn't in the right temper, you will not have the best chance of success. You want him to look jolly and smile instead of sulky and moody. Sometimes when you have the studio arranged, you may have to just make the best of the circumstances so it might be worth taking some toffee with you to the studio which is sure to induce a smile or two!
